Since starting to listen to the SheKnits Podcast, I've joined Sharon's Ravelry group and participated in my first ever swap! It was a super secret swap, and all but two people were paired with someone other than the person they were sending to! Wonderful idea!
So my package that I sent to SarahMKnits arrived successfully and I forgot to take a photo of the goodies I sent, but here is a list:
Magic Loop instruction booklet
Addi Lace Turbos, US 1, 32"
1 skein handpainted sock yarn
1 skein noro cash island
1 tape measure, lantern moon (i think), peppermint twist candy!
Here is what I received from 1to1:
- the latest issue of knitscene
- a pair of addi lace turbo us1 32" needles
- 2 hanks of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn in Happy Valley
- A tin of knit mints
- Highlighters, post its, and chocolate for my patterns ;)
I LOVED doing this swap and can't wait for the next one! Maybe I should plan one for the Welcome Wagon volunteers?
Okay, so there has been much knitting going on!
I finished the first of the Charade socks:
These definitely need blocked, but I guess just wearing them around for a bit once the second sock is done will help in that department as I don't own blockers!
Second, I finished the first April-May Step by Step wrist warmer:
I like the stripes in the beginning more than the huge stripes going across the hand, but oh well. I doubt the second one is going to shape up as nice as this, I just did the increase row. I do like the pattern, except for the thumb (evil dpn's strike again). So I will be knitting the second one of these before I start the second sock of the Charades. I need to get started on the Waves scarf from knit picks as it is an xmas present and I tend to overly procrastinate.
May be stopping at Purl in NYC after the seminar I have to go to on Thursday. Stuff, what are you up to Thursday after work? Hopefully you see this! hehe.
exists. I just did a yarn swap with Fluxx and received the following 3 skeins:
Also, I received this in the mail:
A circular needle case from DellaQ. LOVE IT. There are slots and pockets for everything except 0's and 1's, but that is fine - as I only have one size 1 circular needle and no size 0's. I've decided that I need a size 6 32" needle so I can make the fetchings that I had planned for this year. Not much is on the tap for xmas knitting, I need to see if jc's mom still wants me to knit that Irish Hiking Scarf for her co-worker or not, but other than that, not much is planned other than stash busting!
why hello there vox. it's been so long. happy labor day. florida was wonderful. here are some pictures:
I went back to work on Tuesday for my brother, but not after having a screwed up interview attempt from an insurance company near Sleepy Hollow. They called to schedule at 8 am (who does this?!) while I was dead asleep. I call back, never find out who the company is or what position I'm interviewing for, (remember, dead asleep), and schedule for 10:30 the following Thursday. They call BACK at 3:45 pm asking if I had scheduled and if I was available for 10:45 on Tuesday (?!) and I corrected them. Later that evening, we placed several calls to them to find out the company - which I then researched all open ads on Monster and CareerBuilder - sales positions. SO. They want a person with a Master's degree in Statistics to sell insurance policies to unions. Nice. I call back the next day, because I wanted more information and also because they were supposed to email me to confirm - never got that email. I gave them until 12 noon on Wednesday to return my call, and it never came. So I stayed put. Haven't heard from them still. It's probably for the best.
Later that day, I received an email from my recruiter about a conference in NYC that I will be attending for networking purposes, and hopefully, to learn something too ;)
This weekend, New Age Amazon came out for a visit and we picked up castingon on Saturday while we spent the day in Philadelphia. It was great, perfect weather, and a good time was had by all except for the disappointing lunch at Copa Banana. Sunday we spent a little bit of time at the King of Prussia Plaza, cooked out on the grill for dinner and had delicious ice cream at Soloman's while Dash investigated the ducks at the duckpond. Today, I took both of them back and spent some time at a picnic making smores and hanging out with family friends. It was a great weekend!
Tomorrow I will be playing office queen so that my brother can have a day off - my nephews go back to school tomorrow! Later this week I will be heading up to White Plains to go apartment hunting with the fiance and then hopefully moving up there with him ASAP - Recruiter says things will be picking up very soon! Thank goodness summer is unofficially over!
Knittingwise, I've finished Carolyn's birthday present which I need to mail down in October and have started my first REAL pair of socks. I will update photos of this tomorrow. I'm really enjoying the Cherry Tree Hill yarn. Oh how could I forget! Fluxx and I did a yarn swap and my treasures arrived on Saturday. I am so excited for the new yarn! It is BEAUTIFUL. Pictures will be up tomorrow and possible project ideas!
I think this may be the longest update I've ever written. This is what a good vacation does :) Let's hope I make it through the day tomorrow! Oi.
well it is official, my first pair of socks are done. I knit the second sock of my mom's pair in 3 days, but will probably not use the 2 circ methods again. Now, I'm finishing up casting on the second anklet out of koigu kpppm. love this yarn. luckily i have like 8 more skeins, so the next step is to try a nice pattern on the leg.
So I finally finished my first two socks. They are not a pair because one was done for me as an anklet on magic loop (FINALLY MASTERED THAT!) and the second was for my mom on 2 circs. pics will be posted later, I just had to get that out there. Now to cast on socks #3, 4 so I can have 2 pairs and not subcumb to SSS.
So, I started to knit the flap. And got my sides mixed up....
turning the sock inside out does not fix this. stupid me for thinking it would.
will try again on friday when i get back from nyc.
bah. I WILL LEARN SOCKS ON MAGIC LOOP.
I am having a hard time getting my brain around the heel on magic loop socks. Can anyone help me? Thanks in much advance :)
