I've been working on squares for a baby blanket.
They are 25 st across in rowan baby soft on size 9 straight needles. I need 36 squares and I have almost 14 done. I'm averaging about a square in 45 minutes, because I never really focus completely on my knitting, and prefer to do it while watching tv when it is something this simple. But tonight, I'm taking a study break, and I find that knitting allows me to sort through all of the statistical theory that I am trying to cram into my brain and figure this stuff out. I put in a good hour and a half making note cards of theories that I will be needing to know for this exam on the 6th.I've also about had it with these wireless hotspots in my neighborhood, i last for about 15 minutes per connection and i'm on the third available network...argh. anyway, battery is dying. more tomorrow.
So I've finished my first hat. I am probably going to give it to one of my co-workers once i get back from going home this weekend. It's about an inch too short - I want it to cover my ears a little better (cursed by my huge head). I bought more Manos del Uruguay in colorway 114: bramble to knit a scarf (my so called scarf) and hat combo for my mom. Hopefully I'll get the hat done while I'm at the airport/flying home/driving home tonight. It took me about 4 hours for the first one and probably less for this one. I'm really enjoying knitting continental style - things just go a bajillion times faster which makes me happy of course, because I can get through more projects.
Summarized knit list:
4 baby blankets.
2 hats
fetching for MEEEE
2 my so called scarves
1 scarf left from my xmas knit list (I finished everything except this ONE item).
This really doesn't seem too bad. The baby blankets are the worst part of the list, 2 will be done in the usual way, but the one that is for my friend's daughter's baby is going to be done in individual squares, 6"x6", so 36 of these to do (eep!) but with my new knitting skillz it shouldn't be that big of a drag.
right now I'm praying that the consulting class ends soon so I can grab lunch with my friend Josie before running home to wind up some yarn and get on the airport shuttle bus so I can get my behind home.
I'm concerned about JC getting home because I-78 has been closed due to the snow and that is one of the major roads that we take to get to Congers. Hopefully he knows an alternate :/
I will have some pictures to post on Monday. Have a great weekend everyone :D
I got two boxes from Barnes & Noble today:
Also in the box:
I just really like john mayer. I don't know. I kinda feel weird admitting to that?
And!
The thing I forgot about:
We found this book at Kards Unlimited and I just sat there and giggled at it the entire time I was reading. There is a pattern for knitting pasties. Hahahahaha. I love it. Oh well, I was just informed that the baby blanket I had 3 weeks to do, may be due a little earlier. So I've started another baby blanket. It wil be travelling home with me this weekend and hopefully, I'll be able to get two skeins done (read: half). Fun. I guess I have to knit lots because castingon can't?
This weekend started with Friday which was the annual light up night celebration in downtown pittsburgh. New Age Amazon and I met downtown at one of the many starbucks stores and wandered around the city stupidly trying to find a restaurant that wasn't packed before deciding to just check out the tree at PPG place and then head back to shadyside to grab dinner.
Here are some shots of the tree, the ice skating rink around the tree, and me with the walking heinz ketchup bottle:
After a delicious dinner we just chilled out and worked on our knitting projects. I managed to finish the first of a set of fetchings for a friend:
I did one of the gloves in 3.5 hours and finished the second in about the same time. What a thrill to get another thing crossed off of the knit list for december.
I am 1/3 of the way done the baby blanket too! Yay.
Last night, I hosted a girls' only dinner party. It was great. I made some pico de gallo using ●ßoηi†a.in.Ρink●'s recipe. FANTASTIC! I also made ricotta based gnocchi, and a peanut butter fudge cheesecake (which there is still half of the cake left!) We drank two bottles of wine, some Fat Bastard, and some Gala Rouge. Delicious!
Speaking of babies, along with ●ßoηi†a.in.Ρink●, my friend Josie is an aunt today! Hillary (formerly named Zoe with the umlat) was born this evening! I am so excited for Josie because I was estatic when I became an aunt almost 9 years ago! (congrats mrs. pink!)
Well, best start the mint green stripe of the baby blanket. 17 rows until I switch back to pink!
I'm planning a dinner party this weekend and will most likely share some recipes with you all :D
